The sixth minister at Rothwell, Gregson was born in late 1721 in York and baptised on 6th January 1722. It's not clear why or when he came to Rothwell.
Moses was already resident in Rothwell when he married Mary Cogan on 27 July 1748. The register does not state whether this was carried out at the URC, but given that it was only a couple of months before he took up the pastorate, it is likely. Perhaps there was some urgency for the marriage in order for Gregson to take up the post?
Shortly after taking up the pastorate and just over a year after Moses and Mary had been married, their first
child, a daughter, was born. Again the records are a simple hand written register, and so little additional
detail is provided
The first son of Moses and Mary, Abraham, named after Moses's father, was born on 26th August 1753.
